This week was full of Homework and studying for exams. Right now I am doing pretty good in most of my classes. I am still finding Chemistry a bit difficult, but my teacher is willing to work with me and is going to help me understand better what I can do to do better in class. I am so grateful for good teachers who are willing to work with me and help me.
Something fun that happened this week, my school had a Career fair! I remember telling Catherine a while ago that I didn't think that they would happen here, but apparently they do them every Fall and Winter Semester, but not the spring Semester. I'm not really sure why they do it this way, but I got to go! :) it was pretty fun, I didn't get a ton of free stuff, but i did get a ton of papers and flyers from schools and businesses.
These are the only pictures that I have of this memory. It didn't seem very appropriate to walk around the career fair while trying to talk to people and taking pictures at the same time.
The picture on the left is a picture of a bag that I got from one of the displays and in front of it is a first-aid kit and a test-tube shaped container holding mints. It is a pretty cool thing. above this is a picture of all the papers/flyers that I got
Some things that learned from the career fair....
- most of the places looking for interns, or people to hire are looking for business, computer science, engineers, etc majors. There were no medical places looking to hire, and only one recreational place.. But it was pretty cool to see. Most of the fair took up with places looking for interns, and people to hire. about a quarter of the fair was graduate schools.
I did talk to a few of the schools. One interesting thing, there was a Natruopath medical school there. Utah State was also there. They are starting up a Recreational Therapy Masters program there. it is meant for students who have no experience in the Recreational Therapy. The way that they are working it, they will have their students take the classes for an undergraduate in Recreational Therapy, throw in a few research classes and give them a masters. I think they said it is about a 2-3 year program depending how you do it. That was really relieving to find out that if I don't major in Recreational Therapy that will still be an option that I can go into.
So this next picture is something I saw while on my way to class. It is hard to tell from this picture, but this is a seed spreader that the school uses to seed its lawns. It is HUGE!!! they probably can seed all of their lawns with this in about an hour or so. This seeder made me think of Dad when I saw it, so I took a picture thinking "that's what we need ;)"
Down below is a huge Praying Mantis that I saw on Friday while walking across campus. I think it was super old because I have never seen one so brown, usually they are a bright green.
The rest of the week was Homework and Studying. I didn't take any pictures of that. Now onto this weekend. I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but one of the groups that I am involved in is the Outdoor Learning Center. This means that I get to go to some of the activities that the school puts on for free, as long as I drive those who have signed up. This week I got my license for driving a
12- seater van from the school, it was a lot easier than i was afraid it would be. while taking the driving portion of the test i was very grateful for all of the times that mom had me drive our 12-seater.
On Friday was my first Volunteer OLC trip. It was Black Powder guns and Archery. One of my favorite activities. I ended up not driving this time, because we had enough people we only needed to take one van. So pretty much I got to go to an activity for free. really the only thing I did as a volunteer this time, part of the time I was watching the people doing archery making sure they didn't kill each other, while the other volunteer was getting something from the van.
The Black Powder Guns were very fun, I still think I prefer archery though. well here are some pictures of the activities.

These Guns look rather big on me, I'm not sure if that's just the angle of the Camera or if that is really how i looked trying to shoot the guns.

We all had the opportunity to load the guns ourselves multiple times. It is a sticky process. first you measure out the Black Powder, then you get this piece of cloth and put this grease on it. then you put the bullet on the other side of the cloth and then put it in the gun, grease side out, the grease helps it go in smoother. then you ram it down. the sticky part is the ramming. the Ram Rod is covered in grease from going up and down so many times.

A beautiful Sunset out where we were doing the shooting.
This is the final picture of the activity. this is all the materials that we used for the Black Powder Guns.
On Saturday I spent the majority of the day finishing most of my Homework, it never seems to end! That night my ward had its opening social. It was a baked potato bar, and country dancing. I had A LOT OF FUN. I have discovered how fun country dancing is. We did not have a huge turn out of people, it was sort of a last minute thrown together type of activity. We had the perfect amount for the dancing, but the food was a lot. needless to say at the end of the activity everyone got to bring a lot of the food home. I will probably not have to go shopping for another 2 weeks ;) Well here are some pictures from the activity.
This is our Bishops wife. apparently back when BYU-I was ricks she was on the country dancing team. It really doesn't surprise me. she seems like that type of person. If you look just behind her that is our Bishop. They are a super awesome couple, and own a farm. I think they said about 2.5 acres.
There was some training in country dancing along with the actual dancing. My roommate Kim was teaching all of us along with a guy named Brandon. They are both really good, and help us all learn more and become decent dancers at the dances we were doing.
These ones where I look really concentrated is because I missed the instructions and jumped in right when they were doing the actual dancing, so I was attempting to learn the steps while we went along. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but so much fun.

I guess that is all for this week. i hope you all had a wonderful week. and continue to be blessed and work hard.
I love you tons and tons :)
Love, Tesia
