Arrows, Ice, & Cast

This Blog post covers 2 weeks worth of material. I was supposed to update my blog last week but for some reason the pictures from my phone did not want to upload onto my drive. So here I am this week glad that my photos decided to work. It is early Monday morning, and I am trying to finish my update for everyone before I head to school to study and do my classes. To start out with 3 Sundays ago the girls in my apartment did Sunday Dinner together (we are trying to do this each week) We had sloppy Joes. I made the rolls for the dinner, they took a very long time to make. It was a recipe that I had never tried before, so it took me about total 6 hours because of all the rising the bread had to do. Here are the pictures of the meal we had, you can see the rolls in the bowl.

I know you all wanted to see my roommates, so here is a picture of all of us right before we had the dinner. My phone is not a great camera so the picture is a bit dark, but I am hoping you all can see each of us anyway. I am really blessed to have such amazing roommates.

We have gotten quite a bit of snow the last few weeks, and quite a bit of cold weather. In fact one of the days this week a friend of mine looked up the weather in the North Pole and Antarctica, here in Rexburg we were colder by a few degrees! Needless to say lots of layers, and fun in the snow. On my way to school I have passed this a few times and I finally decided that I needed to take a picture of it.  Someone had a lot of fun with all of the snow that has been piling up in front of their apartment complex. You can't really tell from this picture but there is a good amount of room on the inside.
Now last Saturday I decided to go do some Archery. The School is now opening their in-door archery range on Saturday's for $5 if you do not bring your own material. I had a lot of fun. Here are some pictures I had someone take for me. They were also thoughtful and kind and took a video of me shooting. The video makes me look a lot more awesome than I was actually doing. I did not aim as well as I would like to imagine I can do. It was a lot of fun and I might go do it again sometime.

They did not have enough finger guards so I was shooting (along with pretty much everyone else) with just our bare hands. This is perfectly fine for a bit, but after a while your hand gets a bit raw from the rubbing of the string. You can see my hand got rather red from the bow string. Towards the end I got one of the finger guards.

Now onto this week, Here is another picture of the cold and ice that has been happening around here. Our apartment complex finally decided to have our parking lot plowed. It did not seem to do much other than expose the inches of ice and get rid of the layers of snow that was actually creating some sort of traction to walk on. Oh well I am hopeful that now with the ice exposed perhaps the sun will melt most of it and it won't just keep building up with the snow melting on top.
This is an activity that the school is putting on in a few weeks, A Murder Mystery!! I am really excited and sort of really want to go. I might ask a guy to bring me, Still debating that. I think I will make it dependent on my grades and standing in my classes.
This week I also got a letter from Catherine! She used the wax seal that I got her for Christmas. It survived the mail system and got to me all in one piece. I think it looks really awesome. In case you can't see to well because the pictures are a bit fuzzy the imprint is supposed to be the tree of life.

On Thursdays I have the Pre-Med society. This past week we learned how to put on Casts and Take them off. The cast that I put on my friend I made a bit tight, but I did a good job at taking it off. It was very fun! We had a PA from the health center come in with his daughter to show us all how to do a cast. I was looking at what we were doing to put casts on, a lot of it consisted of jerking arms around to make things fit, I was curious how painful this process would be for someone who actually had a broken bone! Or perhaps we are all just pre-med students who are bit inexperienced ;)

Funny thing about this society full of people that want to be doctors and help others get better and live healthy lives. We keep having not great for us food at our meetings. Even after I suggested we have some sort of healthy food. Oh well perhaps in the future :)

Then on Friday in my physics class we were learning about systems, switches, and electrical flow. Basically we got to play with light bulbs, batteries, and wires. It was a lot of fun along with very educational. I definitely understand a bit better about how the electricity flows and how things work.

Found this funny comic in the Chemistry Department, Sort of feel like it sums up my first few weeks of school! I am hoping to improve a lot the rest of the semester. In case you missed it in Mom and Dad's weekly e-mail I am now auditing my O-Chem II Class. I am still acting as if I am taking it, I will still be studying and taking the quizes/tests. I am really hoping to get out of this class all that I can so that I can do much better next semester when I take it for real. The only thing different now that I am auditing the class, is I will not be taking the Lab, this will free up about 3 hours on my Mondays in order to do more of the things I need to be doing.

Then last but not least I woke up early Saturday Morning to get going with my day. While bringing my laundry to the laundry room I saw this Iceicle in the snow looking like it had fallen the night before. I did not think things had warmed up that much yet, but I guess we may have gotten a few warm nights. This or someone thought they would have a little bit of fun the night before and set this up. Eitherway an interesting picture.
This past Sunday my Bishopric made dinner for everyone in the ward, we had Bishops Baked Potato bar, which included baked potatoes, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and jalapenos. This was a fun time to get to know more people in the ward. Since it was a 5th Sunday we also had a combined meeting with the RS and Elders  Quorum. The bishop talked to all of us about becoming converted V.S.having a testimony. He played a talk to us given by Elder Bednar in the October 2012 Conference titled Becoming Converted to the Lord. I feel like I may have missed a lot in the lesson but that the talk was an inspiring message. I am hoping to take the time to go and listen/read this talk again. I found it in my Gospel Library App and have it marked for later reading. Aren't we blessed to live in a day and age where we can do things like this!!!
Well Everyone that is all for now. I hope you are all doing well. I have enjoyed very much reading all of the weekly emails that come every Sunday/Monday. I love hearing what everyone is doing with their lives, and how they are each learning more and improving everyday.
