Two weeks of life

Two weeks ago on Monday (the Monday before my CNA program started), I had my first ward FHE activity. We all went to a lake and had BBQ sandwiches and went swimming. The water was literally ICE COLD!!!!!!! it took a good 5 mins of standing in the water and doing a weird shuffle before the body would adapt to the temperature of the water. Sadly there were no edges of the lake that were deep enough to just jump in, so it consisted of just running into the water as far as you could and hoping you were not the only one brave enough to get in.  Thankfully the day was warm enough that once we all finished having fun in the water we were able to warm up pretty fast in the sun.

Other than the FHE activities my life consisted of figuring out the bus system in Utah, and doing some practice runs to see if I could ride the buses to my CNA classes. I was able to successfully do it and without any mishaps. The only thing I seem to forget sometimes is whenever I bring my bike on the bus it gets put on a bike rack on the front of the bus. When the stop comes up that I get off at, I seem to forget to put the bike rack back up on the bus instead of hanging open in front of it. This makes the bus drivers a little annoyed but it has only happened twice so far. Perhaps I will learn from the experiences :)

I am very grateful that I have not needed to take the buses yet as Sarah and Brandon have been very helpful and given me a ride to my classes every morning so far. I am extremely grateful to them :)

The same week that I had my first FHE activity I also had the opportunity to volunteer at the MTC for the MTC tours. I was placed at the front doors. My job was to greet the tourists and offer/get wheelchairs for those who needed them. There was this one bus full of people who mostly all needed wheelchairs, it used up a little over half the wheel chairs in less than 10 mins of us refilling them! What would happen is, the people would be given a wheelchair to use at the beginning of the tour and then at the end of the tour they would give the chair back to security. Then the security would drive the chairs back to the front to us when they collected about 8 or so of them.

The following week (this past week) my CNA classes started. I am learning a lot about how to take care of people who need help. A lot of what we are learning is pretty self-explanatory if someone had the time to stop and think about it. What this class teaches though is how to do each thing properly so as to limit the spread of infection and to make those we are helping as comfortable as possible. I am enjoying the classes and look forward to this week. This upcoming week I have clinicals that start. I am hoping for the morning clincals which are 5:30-1:30 On these days we will be going to nursing homes and we will be passed off on our skills. basically making sure we know what we are doing and how to do it.

The last thing to update. This past Monday was the next FHE activity. we went to a campsite and had tacos and played games. This was also my first day of CNA classes so I had a HW assignement of neededing 50 people that I took vitals of. So after eating I asked people if I could practice taking their vitals. Thisended up taking the rest of the time, but I was able to take a big chunk out of the assignement. I still need about 24 people left, and it is due on Tuesday.

Well that is all for this week and last week. I am trying to take more pictures. I hope you are all doing well.
Much Love,
Tesia

Get caught up on a semester.

It has been a very long time since I have written on my blog, sorry it has been quite a crazy and pretty unorganized semester. But the good news is I have not stopped taking pictures :) Since there are over 100 pictures I will put very small captions on them, but hope that you will get a good idea of what I did in my semester. I have also included my pictures from after this semester and hope you will have fun seeing what I have been up to since the semester has ended as well.

THese three pictures are of some of the O-Chem labs that I did. I actually ended up doing exceptionally well in the lab portion of O-CHem. THis is awesome because I am able to take O-Chem without having to take the lab again :)

SPRING!!!! Pretty flowers

Home Evening activity. Pudding Pictionary: 2 teams. The card says what the picture is and what body part you have to use to draw with.

My replacement bike panniers for my old ones. Not sure if many of you remember the story. about a year or so ago I got a set of bike panniers. they were growing old so I now decided to get a new set. After looking at many different options I got these green ones. They were plenty big and could fit 45L in each side (basically a whole bunch of stuff!!!). The first time I ordered them, Amazon sent them to the wrong address (they sent them to Ohio), So Mom and Dad got a free pair of bike panniers. Ammon seems to be using them very well from what I have heard. Amazon sent me a new set for free. Sadly these green ones were too big for my bike and would constantly run into my wheels. After talking with the company, they had me keep the green set and sent me the upgraded black set that has 3 bags. These work wonderfully! I have been using them since. This whole ordeal took a little over a month to figure out.

Roommates being fun. The toothpaste was left on for too long and was killer to clean off though.

Easter surprise from a friend.

MORE PRETTY SPING PHOTOS!!

Power To Become booth handing out free hot dogs one day to advertise the conference this year. Sadly I did not go, but perhaps next year :)
This interesting fellow I found riding down the stairs on a unicycle while playing the guitar. He did it all very well. I tried to get a picture of him in action, sadly my camera is a bit slow on the take ;)

Funny Roommates, Glad I had 2 Semesters with her. It was a ton of fun.

One of the many many many bridal showers I went to this semester.  They seemed to be never ending. I have so many friends who either have or are getting married this summer!!!

My apartment found out one Sunday that our TV actually does get BYUTV!!! We watched the Fireside for YSA on it. Quite a fun Sunday we were all hanging out while listening to the voice of a prophet. What a blessed time we live in!!

Home Evening activity. One of the girls in our Home Evening group worked with the man who is over the I-Center (BYU-I's version of the conference center.) Becuase of this she was able to get us a full tour, more than most people are allowed to do. We went all the way up to the cat walks and all the way down to the deep basement where all the plumbing and pipes, and wires, etc go. Interesting fact the original plans had the I-Center only sitting about 4000 people, and BYU-I only had about 2000 people at the time. President Hinckley said no he wanted it to sit somewhere (I don't remember the exact number) between 8000-10000 people. This was really silly to the builders since there were not that many people on campus, but now we have about 16000 on campus in one semester! Just an example of the inspiration that prophets receive.

Found out the projection screens are the biggest in the world (or church?). behind the screen is literally a room where the projector is on the back wall and project on the screen in the front of the room, which then goes through and we see it on the other side of the screen. Not sure how that all works but it looks cool!
This is the server room where all the hard drives for the school are in. They keep this room super cooled all the time. It never ever shuts off becuase all the computers make this room heat up so fast and high.

Basement time

 MORE SPRING PHOTOS.
Pretty flowers

Stuff collected at a Health Fair that Rexburg Put on. THere are A LOT of health places in Rexburg that I did not know about. Lots of fun to go to

A friend of mine decided to dye her hair darker red. To me, it turned out to be more of a maroon color.

I was surprised and amused that this has actually become a thing that is sold. "Just add water" cakes in a mug.

Thought of Catherine when I saw this at the store.

SALAD TIME!!! Yummy salads

A new hairdo that I tried on my roommate. I believe it actually turned out really pretty. I was proud of how well it turned out.
 Rain in Rexburg

Heart Models from Anatomy. Getting ready to study for the exam so trying to take good pictures to study from.

Final Lab in O-Chem was a 4-week process. The end goal was to make an orange-red dye. The pictures I have taken make it look Blood red, but it was an orange red in acutallity. I was so happy this turned out right and that I did not ruin anything in the process.

Rose Bushes that the school has

Another Bridal Shower. More food this time.

Our ward had a mini surprise pot luck to celebrate the Bishops Birthday one Sunday.

Roommate brought me out for Frozen Yogurt.

BYU-I's Apple Orchards. It was an Agriculture festival at BYU-I put on by some other near by college but hosted by BYU-I. Lots of people teaching about growing your own gardens and flowers. I learned a lot and it was very fun. While looking where to go I wandered through the apple orchards and took some pictures.

And another Bridal Shower! (seriously never ending, So happy for all of them though :) )

A kitten wandered into the engins of some of the cars at our apatment complex. One of my roommates finally caught it. Since the Shelter was closed for the weekend we kept the kitten until Monday,

Sunday night games with some friends.

Fouth of July food :)

Fourth of July Festival. A VERY MINI version of Ohio's Popcorn Festival, instead of 100's of stands only like 6. But still cool things being sold :)

The Hospital parked the Helicopter in the park for people to come and look at.

Free splash park finally opened at the park (only 12 and under allowed)

Cherry tree growing at our apartment complex. Lots of cherries, still unsure if they were technically edible or not. I tried on and it was nasty so I didn't try any others. A lot of other people ate them and were fine, so I guess they were edible.

Following are picutres that I took while at Grandpa Collier's Funeral, SO if it is still to soon for you to look at any of them I would suggest you scroll down past them.

Sarah was given the job of setting up a table that had a lot of Grandpa's things on it that all spoke of Grandpa and who he was. She found a lot of things that he had prepared for Family Reunions that he already had written up about, so she was able to use a lot of things. I am convinced that Grandpa was there in spirit guiding a lot of the things that happend. He helped things be found and people be comforted. Etc. Sarah did a magnificent job.

Jolene, Lisa, and some of the grandchildren helping to clean off Grandpa's Gravestone.

This is a story that I learned while at the funeral. Apparently, Grandma and Grandpa both had their coffins made by someone in their ward a while ago so that they would be plain ones but still nice. I look at this and I believe it is definitely something that says, Grandpa

Flying back to Provo to move into the new apartment, and then off to Rexburg to take the finals I missed. I am very greatful to teachers who were willing to work with me to let me go to the funeral and still take my finals.

Mom ordered me a stephascope for my CNA course. It has my name engraved on it and my initials on the metal part. I'm sorry if the picture is a bit to blurry to really tell.

Sarah Got me and a friend a VIP ticket to the MTC tour Yesterday (July 29th)! IT WAS SO AMAZING!!!!! If any of you get the chance to go to this then please take it. They have done some great things with these new buildings. A lot of windows, bright colored paint and seriously beautiful pictures.

The picture right below this Scripture goes together. My camera does not do it justice. This is by far my favorite one that was in the new MTC buildings. This is a picture of Nephi looking down on what I am guessing is Jerusalem. He is about to go and get the plates from Laban. If at all possible this is a picture that I one day want in my house. I am guessing this is a picture that is taken from the new Book of Mormon videos the church is doing.

Where there is some grass in between the building there is apparently a foundation for a fourth building that has been covered up.they were told not to build the fourth building yet, but it will one day be built and it will be identical to the building across from it. So they will make a square when all four are built.

So that has been all of my adventures the last few months and weeks. I am also currently applying for jobs and getting to know Provo better.
Hope you all enjoyed it!
Love, Tesis.
