Contact, rocks, and hikes

This week was my one week break from School. I had a lot of fun with quite a few activities. The first one that I did was on Tuesday. I decided that I wanted to explore a bit more of Rexburg, since it is not something that I often get to do.
One of the first things that I did was I went bouldering/rock climbing at a place called Sticks-n-Stones. I only lasted about 30 mins. Basically it was climbing on this wall with no ropes or strings attached. The floor was filled with foam so it didn't hurt to bad when/if you fell. I got about 3/4 ths of the way up before I couldn't do any more, but for me not doing this for a really long time, it was quite impressive for me. about 30 mins into the activity, my arms would not even pull me up the the first rock, let alone hold me up, so I had to stop at that point.
Here are some pictures of the rock wall I was climbing on.

While exploring Rexburg I discovered a candy shop that is way over priced, but still fun to explore. As well I discovered a few cute little shops that are fun to look at.

Another piece of news is I got my Contacts officially, and I am no longer wearing glasses. Here is a picture of me without my glasses, and a bit of makeup on. I am actually really liking this look.

This weekend Christina and I went hiking with her friend Ashley. We had a lot of fun finding places to take some good pictures, and had a fun time with cameras. The scenery was beautiful and we had a lot of fun. Here are a few of the pictures, or perhaps a lot of the pictures that we took. On the trip we were all dressed in our bathing suits because we had originally planned on going swimming, and then it ended up being to cold to get into the water, but we had fun going near the water anyway.

So yep that is a lot of pictures of our hike, but it was a fun experience with wonderful opportunities to get to know each other even better.
I hope you all had a wonderful week. School is beginning tomorrow, so there will be some experiences there.

Late again

Well this post is going to cover several weeks worth since I have been to busy to keep up with the post, sorry I plan on picking it up again. Mostly I was busy because of Finals and school, So there are not really any pictures of me studying but you should rest assured that I was studying hard.... most of the time ;)
This first batch of photos is from the Math center on Campus, this was on the wall and it made me laugh, it is a funny comic strip.

For those who can't see the words very well here is what it says.
Calvin: "you know, I don't think math is a science. I think it's a religion."
Hobbs: "a religion?"
Calvin: Yeah all these equation are like miracles. You take two numbers and when you add them, they magically become one new number! No one can say how it happens. You either believe it or you don't
Calvin: The whole book is full of things that have to be accepted on Faith! Its a Religion!
Hobbs: And in the public schools no less. Call a Lawyer.
Calvin: As a Math Atheist I should be excused from this.

Anyway I thought that was really funny. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
The week before Conference was Easter. So here is a beautiful Happy Easter for everyone, One of the women in the Relief Society put this on the board during Sunday. Sadly I don't think I really did much to celebrate Easter it was to close to finals and I had homework piling up. But I did take the time to think of Christ and the wonderful gift he gave to all of us by going through the atonement and resurrection. The Church release some wonderful videos on and around Easter. I hope you all had the chance to watch them, and if you didn't you should look them up.

The Monday after Easter, my ward had its closing social. It was a Lasagna night with a talent show. The only thing I participated in was holding the microphone for one of the women in my ward who had a beautiful voice!

This is  women who has the beautiful voice, I wish I could let you all hear her sing, but sadly my camera on my phone does not take very good quality videos. Oh well here are some more pictures of the acts in the talent show, there was a lot of singing and dancing, and then just a few random things like juggling or magic tricks.

One of the two guys here served in my mission while I was there. In fact we served in the same zone. I never new he had a twin brother, and now I have a really hard time telling which one is which.
  And for dessert??? PIE!! :D

The next week end was General Conference. What a special blessing it is for us to be able to listen to our apostles and prophets speak to us. I  loved all of the inspiring messages and the wonderful feelings that come along with it. I learned a lot, and I completely plan on going back and rereading and studying each of the talks when they come out in the ensign that I hope my apartment gets soon. (our ward order one ensign for each of the apartments in the ward, it is really nice)

For General Conference, Mom and Dad helped me have a special meal as well on both days! Here is my Saturday's meal. It was an all day meal, but extremely enjoyable.

So this picture is actually a little less than I actually had, I had some for breakfast.
Mom and Dad also helped me get some stuff to make pulled pork, turns out once again I made a lot more than I needed to, So I have enough that will probably last a good 2 weeks or more. Also this crock pot/pressure cooker is AMAZING!!!
Sunday morning I made cinnamon rolls,  They turned out really well :D Putting sugar in the bottom of the pan makes for a really yummy bottom of the rolls.
And here is what the finished product of the pulled pork looks likes.
 And the yummy sandwich.
Monday after General Conference was the week of finals. My bishop provided treats for all of us, it was cake and ice cream. It was raining at the end of the day and as we walked outside it was raining, and we could see double rainbows! Hope you can all see both of them, the second one is a bit hard to see. It was beautiful.
And now we are going to the week of finals, a stressful week, but full of lots of learning and reminding. This is a funny picture that I'm not sure if you can see, but this is somewhere in the center of our campus, and towards the back of the picture you can see two hammocks set up with people just chilling in them. Clearly they were very comfortable. It made me laugh because that is not something you would usually see.

And then the week continued and finals happened. As usual I did OK on my finals, I have never been all that good at finals, but I think I passed all of my classes. I won't actually know until the end of this week, but I will definitely let everyone know how I did.
After my last final on Friday, I headed over to the local public library, got out a few book (I am enjoying the time that I have to read books without having to worry about things due or things that I need to study for.) Once I got home, I sat down at a table my apartment complex has outside and just read for a few hours. It was very nice to be able to do that. funny thing is that I forgot how much closer the sun is to us here, so I burned my arms a little. he he, well they are both very beautifully tanned now :)
Later that night my roommate and I went to the Temple. We did both initiatory and and endowment session. It was very nice to go there and "leave" the world for a little bit. Here are some pictures that Christina and I took while there. What a beautiful temple and day.

Here are some pictures we took after out session, clearly it was a few hours difference :)
On Saturday night I had this big desire to cook some bread, I was nervous since the last time I cooked bread by hand it did not turn out that great no matter how much I tried. But this bread actually turned out quite well! well one of them anyway. I sort of messed up the other one. The loaf of bread lasted one day with my apartment. I am really happy it turned out so well. I am definitely going to make more. the only issue is that the recipe I used had a lot of sugar in it so it tasted more like Hawaiian bread then what I was going for. The next time I make some, I will not put as much sugar in it.
OH!!! Also on Saturday I officially got contacts :) The eye doctor that I went to used to live in Ohio and was in our ward. I am not entirely positive about it, but it seems to me that he was extremely nice to me and gave me a huge discount!!! There is an extra picture that some eye doctors like to get but it costs extra money, I turned down the option to have this extra test done on my eyes. At the end of my exam the eye doctor took me into the room with the machine, and told me that he wanted to take the picture of my eye, and he wouldn't charge me. He was very excited about the machine, and kept talking about how cool the machine was. I was grateful for the help he gave me. I have my trial pair right now, and I am going to get the official ones on Tuesday :) I am really liking them. Anyway that is why in the future pictures you will see me with no glasses on.

Here is the outcome of the bread. It was very yummy.

Well that is the end of this post. I hope you all enjoyed reading it. I know I am enjoying my life right now. There are so many things going on and so much that will happen. I love that life is full of surprises and adventures.
I have a few fun plans for this week, I will try to take good pictures and show you all by Sunday. Like I said I am going to try to do a lot better at keeping this blog updated.
I hope all of you are having a good life.
Love,
